Peter Cullen, GKR’s Health & Safety Director has been named Supply Chain Individual of the Year at the Mace Health, Safety and Wellbeing Awards.

Peter’s energy and passion for safety has helped drive our positive culture and commitment to building a high performance environment at GKR.

Since joining us 6 years ago, he has built a Heath, Safety & Wellbeing department with a market leading safety record and reputation.

He has strived to remove the blame culture so often seen in our industry, using positive reinforcement to encourage open discussion about improving safety.

The judges at Mace all had experience of working with Peter collaboratively on various projects and had seen first hand the influence he has had on the culture of GKR and health and safety in general.

GKR Group Director, Lee Rowswell, said:

“When Peter joined our business it was clear that he was going to help shape the future of GKR. He has always gone above and beyond to deliver what is best for the company and the safety of our team.

Being hugely reliable, he has personally supported me on the commercial side of the business as well as building the capabilities of his own team. Our clients and fellow supply chain specialists respect him and enjoy working with him. GKR would not be GKR without him.”

Martin Coyd, Associate Director for Health, Safety & Wellbeing at Mace said:

Peter Cullen is without doubt the leading H&S professional in his sector.  He is very visible, engaging at all levels, influencing, encouraging, supporting and pushing us all forward with his infectious enthusiasm and drive.

As well as having a strong presence on day-to-day standards, leading the industry, he is at the forefront of new and exciting innovation with the GKR VR training.  Real ground breaking stuff.

I believe that this stems from a passion and genuine care for people, putting them first ensuring we can be at our best and go home safe every day.

An example to all of us of what can be done with passion and determination. And he runs marathons…”
