GKR win the double at CN Specialists Awards 2017

GKR have yet again scooped the Access & Scaffolding Specialist of the Year award, for the second year running.

And this year we also won the Training Excellence Award 2017.

The last 12 months have seen huge growth for GKR; working on high profile projects such at Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium, the Mary Rose Museum, Wimbledon Court One, Royal Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall.

Our level of repeat business and high customer satisfaction has driven our growth and was acknowledged by the judges.

“GKR Scaffolding stood out as the outstanding access and scaffolding specialist in the market”

Our comprehensive set of achievements contributed to GKR being given the award again this year.

The judges commended our investment in capabilities, such as our new fleet of Euro 6 standard lorries and our tracking system that monitors driving behaviours – helping to further reduce carbon emissions and fuel costs.

Health & Safety was a stand out area for the judges. Our occupational health programme to conduct safety-critical medicals on site in our mobile health centres was mentioned in particular.

Our commitment to training “is raising the bar for both its sector and the wider industry”

Our vision for training was acknowledged by the judges – to make employees feel valued and worthwhile, while upskilling and innovating to improve performance.

The GKR Academy opened in 2014, to address this and was hailed by the judges as “exemplifying our proactive approach to training, helping to shift perceptions amongst employees from having a job to having a career, and the industry from a subcontractor to a professional supplier.”

We also impressed the judges with our proactive approach to health and safety training, promoting cultural and behavioural change, and extending this beyond the business to our clients.

The judging panel concluded:

“GKR is using training and development to change the perception of the whole industry – the approach from Mr Rowswell makes his people feel more valued and makes the industry value them more.”

Lee Rowswell, Managing Director, commented:

“Winning both awards demonstrates how much of our business’ success is due to training and retaining excellent people. GKR employees reflect our core values in how they work with our clients – collaboration, innovation and excellent capabilities. We will continue to invest in them and our industry, creating a better future for everyone.”
