GKR and Spurs’ new stadium featured in Construction News

GKR’s work on Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium was this month featured in the Construction News Special Report on Scaffolding and Access.

The new stadium is one of the largest and most complex construction projects in London today.

GKR’s experience in innovative problem solving, whilst working within a short time frame and keeping a huge number of fans safe, was highlighted by Features Editor, Daniel Kemp.

As part of the works, GKR built the UKs largest public scaffold staircase. It’s one of two Layher staircases erected by the team, which safely gives access to the stands for thousands of supporters on match days.

Less visible are many of the other scaffolding elements that GKR take care of on the site. In particular, we have built a temporary structure that seats 72 fans, replacing part of a stand that was lost during the demolition.

For those of you that know our MD, Lee Rowswell, you’ll know that this project is an opportunity of a lifetime for the Spurs fan who already spends every home match at the stadium, and now part of his working week.

He told Construction News:

“My dad took me here to games, and I’ve been able to take my son to games here now as well. It’s an amazing project to be a part of.”
