The Royal Opera House project ‘Open Up: Building for the Future’ is underway. Open Up is a renovation project enhancing the experience of anyone visiting this iconic building.
GKR have been appointed as the principle scaffold contractor to carry out all scaffolding and access requirements for Phase 1 Works.
Scaffolding has been required in several front of house areas with high footfall from the general public. The client knew GKR could draw on our experience of keeping the public safe but also accessible to site staff in an environment that needs to remain functional.
The scaffold was erected to protect the public using the building so that all necessary construction works can take place. Scaffold protection tunnels provide safe access for the public to visit the Royal Opera House whilst site staff can work, not visible to the public.
The ROH has commented that people are unaware that the construction work has even started because the works have been so well planned and delivered by GKR.
The client has acknowledged that early procurement of the right sub-contractors has led to its success.
Works are supervised by our foreman Matthew Fotheringham who has been with GKR for 13 years and was one of the first graduates of the GKR Academy.
Our commitment to a ‘Better Future’ is helping the Royal Opera House with ‘Building for the Future’.
